Notas del disco:
The sudden departure of Pink Floyd founding member Syd Barrett in 1968 marked the closure of the first prolific chapter in the Pink Floyd story.
A maverick artist and true individual, Syd Barrett helped forge the British psychedelic scene when he formed Pink Floyd with Roger Waters, Rick Wright and Nick Mason in 1965. This special programme charts the band's rise to fame under the guidance of Barrett's influence to his premature departure under a cloud of drug abuse and psychological problems.
Richly illustrated with rare early footage of the band performing alongside new interviews with the members of the band - David Gilmour, Rick Wright, Roger Waters and Nick Mason - and their associates, fans and friends including Jerry Shirley (Humble Pie), Graham Coxon (Blur) and original band member Bob Klose.
Featuring classic early Pink Floyd songs Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Interstellar Overdrive, Arnold Layne, See Emily Play, Bike and more.

Notas del disco:
The late Syd Barrett was a major cult figure and rock music legend. The charismatic and brilliant guitarist of the early Pink Floyd, he created a unique psychedelic sound and wrote wonderfully eccentric songs including the hits "Arnold Layne" and "See Emily Play", plus albums tracks like "Bike" and "Astronomy Domine". Syd Barrett left Pink Floyd in 1968 when his increasingly erratic behaviour made his continued participation in the band impossible, and after two extraordinary solo albums he disappeared from music altogether. Pink Floyd went on to worldwide fame but the absent Syd remained painfully present in the music and lyrics most notably in the classic "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" from "Wish You Were Here". "The Pink Floyd & Syd Barrett Story" tells the full bizarre, tragic but also celebratory story of Syd Barrett with contributions from friends, managers, lovers and of course all the members of Pink Floyd — Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright.
ResponderEliminarThe Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story is a 2001 television documentary produced by Otmoor Productions for BBC Two's Omnibus series and originally called Syd Barrett: Crazy Diamond (in the US, a slightly modified version aired as Pink Floyd & Syd Barrett in the VH1 Legends series in January 2002).
Directed by John Edginton, the film includes interviews with all the Pink Floyd members – Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright – plus the "fifth Pink Floyd", Bob Klose, who left the band in 1965, getting their points of view on the original band founder Syd Barrett.
The film includes rare early television appearances of Pink Floyd, and home movies.
The film was first released on DVD on 24 March 2003. In 2021, the director and archivist, John Edginton, retrieved the original interview tapes and released them in full on his YouTube channel in a playlist titled Pink Floyd Unfiltered.
